Why Get On Board With Passport?

Passport to the Nations cirriculum uses the “immersion” approach to unlock all the rich detail of every inhabited continent… one continent at a time! We’ve tied up music, local customs, language introduction, culture-rich art, hands-on geography activities, and intro to unreached peoples. We also include missionary stories - from both heroes of the faith, as well as modern-day missionaries! And we tie this all up with the strings of a God-centered worldview. And here’s the best part (spoiler alert!), we spend a few minutes each class praying for the nations. Yep. And all the while, kids are flexing their servant muscles by participating in age-appropriate mission projects. Kids learning to live life on mission. And we do that Every. Single. Year.
We’ve made the content adaptable for various settings by offering multiple lengths of content to Passport (think short term and long term missions <wink>).
And we’ve built in flexibility by offering “buffet-style” content. In other words, pick and choose the “ingredients” that work for your particular situation. We’ve done all the nitty-gritty legwork and lesson planning to make this possible. Consistent categories (see Content Categories below) of material make Passport familiar, goof proof and user-friendly. On the other hand, variety (that little spice of life) for students and teachers grows through exposure to the diversity of each rich region.
We saved the best for last! While the content is written at the elementary age level, we’ve made each lesson adaptable by including instructions for modifying the project to accommodate varied settings, ages, and abilities. The lesson can also be modified based on the time and energy your group wants to devote to an activity. In other words, “flexibility” is our middle name!

Curriculum Cornerstones

Geography - “Map It

It’s hard to go to the nations when you don’t know who and where the nations are. Because technology and improved travel have created a nation that is more diverse, as well as a world that is more connected, it’s more important than ever that kids become geographically and culturally literate. Once kids become aware of the diverse people of the world, they also begin to recognize that the nations are in their own backyards!
God Is Creator

In the God is Creator section, kids learn about the incredible beauty and design of God’s creation. Cultural content about the people, animals and physical features He created is found in this section. Kids gain a greater understanding about the culture, people and challenges they face living in various regions of the world.
God is Provider

God is Provider opens up the world to kids by exploring food, clothes, shelter, and natural resources from other lands. Students will see how God uses the church to provide for the needs of the world – not for humanitarian reasons, but in order that “his name may be known on earth, his salvation among all nations.” Psalm 67:2
God is Ruler

The God is Ruler section exposes kids to the predominant religion of the continent or region. Students will learn the main tenets of each religion, as well as how Christianity supremely speaks to these religions. Specifically, the focus will be on unreached people groups with very limited or no access to the gospel.
God is Savior

God is Savior - “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” Kids will learn inspiring stories from both heroes of the faith, as well as modern-day missionaries. As students hear engaging and adventurous stories, they will learn how God used ordinary people with their own unique gifts to bring the Good News to those they served.

Great Commission Training

In this section, kids memorize Bible verses, as well as a kid-friendly Gospel presentation. Every year we incorporate a different focus for each of the Gospel presentations. Our hope is that over time, students will gain a fuller understanding of the Gospel message themselves, as well as learn how to share it with others…. because we believe it’s never too early for kids to learn their role in telling God’s Big, True Story!

PRAY

This is an exciting section of the curriculum! Prayer is integral to the mission. Students will have an opportunity to systematically pray for the people of one or two countries each week. By the end of the year, students will have prayed for the people of every country in the focus continent. By the end of their Passport journey, students will have prayed for nearly every country in the world!

SERVE

Throughout each semester, kids participate in various mission projects so kids can put into action what they’ve learned. Serving gives kids an opportunity to not just gain head knowledge, but also provides a path for allowing that head knowledge to make the long journey to the heart. Our hope is that kids will learn to see the needs of the nations, and see themselves, through Christ, as the ones to meet those needs.
