Change for Change

Provide clean and living water to those who do not have it.  Specifically, consider partnering with Neverthirst to provide water filters or contribute to one of their well projects in Africa.  Hop on over to neverthirstwater.org to see the projects in Africa that are currently being funded and built.

This fundraising idea is pretty straightforward.

Earn, save, and share your change.

1. EARN:

There are so many ways you can earn money for this project!

1.  Consider having a LemonAID stand.

2.  Start a neighborhood petsitting service

3.  Host a yard sale.

4.  Make and sell some jewelry.

Empower each child to look for at least one way to generate extra change.  Pray.  Encourage them to ask God to lead them in what they can do.  Be creative.  But do something – something to help others have not just clean water, but Living Water as well.

2.  SAVE

Then, find a collection receptacle that coincides with the scale of your project.

If you’re working on this project at home, use a drinking glass or some other type of jar for change.

If you’re doing this with students at your church, use a water jug or adapt a Jerry Can like this one that we got from NeverThirst.

This collection well would be a great idea if you’re actually trying to raise enough money to fund a clean water well:

If you are fundraising to provide water filters instead of a well, you might like this idea:

Fill mason jars with dirty waters.  Each jar should represent a goal:  $10, or maybe $100.

As this amount of money is collected, replace the dirty water with clean water.

This is a great visual representation for children on the mission behind the fundraising……..

You’re working to replace dirty, unsanitary drinking water with clean, safe drinking water.  This is what the money represents!  And in the process, they will also hear about the Living Water!

Whichever means you choose, each week collect your change so that you can…….

3.  SHARE your change.

“For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,  I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’  Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’  Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ ”     Mathew 25:42-45
