Jicama (pronounced hi-cuh-muh) is a root similar to the potato of North America but with a sweeter and less starchy taste. It is generally eaten raw with lemon or lime juice or cut up and used in salad recipes.
Jicama is readily available at larger grocery store chains.
What you will need:
- jicama
- limes
- salt or sea salt
- chili powder (optional)
Cut outer layer of skin off jicama by peeling with a potato peeler or knife.
Slice jicama into thin “chips”.
Squeeze a generous amount of fresh lime juice over jicama.
Sprinkle with sea salt.
Optional: you might also try sprinkling jicama lightly with chili powder.
This is a healthier version of “chips” to be sure.
