Using the Sewing Gospel Threads curriculum in a Hispanic context? We have translated all of the documents you will need into Spanish. 1) The presentation board: Follow this link for the full instructions on how to make the presentation board. Here are the highlights of us putting one together to use in a Hispanic context. Cut the cards in the appropriate colors and write the corresponding words in Spanish. Laminate and cut out the cards.
Hint: write the English translation on a corner on the backside of the card so you can make sure you are using the appropriate card! Draw lines on the board as explained in the Presentation Board post. Attach velcro to the board in the appropriate positions and to the back of the cards. Bravo! Note: if you are traveling out of the country with this curriculum, chances are you can’t easily carry a 22″x28″ foam board. We have a plan! Measure the board approximately halfway up – so you are just above the “Vida” card (our measurement was app. 14 1/2″). Mark the measurement on the backside of the board and draw a line across the board. Using a razor and a straight edge, score the back side of your foam board; make a cut deep enough to cut through the back layer of the board, but not so deep that you cut through the front layer of the foam board. Snap the board so that it bends in half – front sides together. You can reinforce the front side of the board with clear packing tape if desired. Fold in half and place all of the cards in a ziplock bag for easy storage. Take the Gospel to the nations! 2) For the Memory Verses Card Packs: Here is a copy of each day’s memory verse in Spanish. And here are the downloads to make the Scripture memory card packs in Spanish. There are eight verses per page. Print the appropriate number of copies needed for the number of children you expect.
- Hilo Blanco (White Thread Memory Verse) – copy on white cardstock
- Hilo Negro (Black Thread Memory Verse) – copy on gray cardstock
- Hilo Rojo (Red Thread Memory Verse) – copy on red cardstock
- Hilo Verde (Green Thread Memory Verse) – copy on green cardstock
- Hilo Amarillo (Yellow Thread Memory Verse) – copy on yellow cardstock
Cut and sort the cards so that you have one of each verse (or color) per stack.
Finally, hole punch and tie your card stacks together. 3) And finally, the Gospel Threads Worksheet: the download in Spanish can be found HERE. Have students color the sections of the map in the following order: White, Black, Red, Green, and Yellow.
As the students color each section of the worksheet, remind them what each color stands for and discuss with them the main points for each “thread”. This is a good time to ask probing question as well as give students time to ask you questions.
